Monday, Nov. 25 marked the official kick-off for the 21st Annual Gingerbread Village at the Seattle Sheraton. This year’s theme is nursery rhymes, and your Association partnered with member company Gelotte Hommas Architecture to create “Hickory Dickory Dock,” which is one of six projects on display. Adam Greisz of member company Toth Construction built the base for our project. Gingerbread Village raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Northwest Chapter.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Snohomish County Executive John Lovick spent the morning at your Association to receive an issue update and to learn more about what we do. Issues that make up our 2014 legislative agenda were the focal point as we discussed the upcoming comprehensive plan update, the need for changes to the county tree code, State Environmental Protection Act (SEPA) reform, Paine Field and permitting issues.
Each month, Executive Director Shannon Affholter selects a staff member who has demonstrated outstanding commitment, productivity and innovation in service to the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties. November’s Employee of the Month is the Association’s Controller, Tanya Tsybert.
Nearly 100 volunteers from your Association gathered for the Master Builders Care Foundation’s annual Painting a Better Tomorrow® on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. As a blustery autumn storm downed trees and caused power outages throughout the Puget Sound, volunteers calmly painted the lobby, community room, hallways and gathering locations inside Ellsworth House, a home for dozens of low-income seniors run by Imagine Housing.

There is a wonderful new partnership between Master Builders Career Connection (MBCC) and Sawhorse Revolution, a non-profit group that shares our mutual goal of raising awareness of residential carpentry and construction as a rewarding and fulfilling career opportunity among local youth. Fourteen high school students were recently provided with the most exciting construction experience of their lives.
This year, the Remodelers Council awarded to special recognition awards. Sherry Schwab of HCS Construction Services Co received the Remodelers Council 2013 Builder Member Excellence Award and Myra Williams of Baskets by Myra received the Remodelers Council 2013 Associate Member Excellence Award.
Congratulations to the Remodeling Excellence Awards (REX) winners on their outstanding work! The Master Builders Association and the Remodelers Council presented 25 awards at the annual awards banquet held Saturday, June 22, at the Glendale Country Club in Bellevue. REX recognizes and honors the thought, planning and hands-on work that goes into creating the spaces homeowners dream about. The Glendale Country Club provided a picturesque setting and backdrop for this celebration of the vision, high-quality craftsmanship and above all, the successes within the remodeling industry. This is truly a collection of the best of the best in the remodeling industry of this region!
The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties has been recognized with three awards from the Executive Officers council (EOC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Your Association won an Association Excellence Award in the Communications category for Best Website, MasterBuildersInfo.com, and two Government Affairs Awards; Best Local Government Affairs Effort for Fee Simple Townhomes and Best Regional Government Affairs Effort for the Kent Levee Improvement Plan.
The Master Builders Care Foundation (MBCF) is very proud to announce that Gamut360 Holdings (dba Reliant Homes) will lead the newest HomeAid project. Gamut360 Holdings dba Reliant Homes, its trades and MBCF will partner with local nonprofit Friends of Youth.
More than 300 volunteers gathered on Saturday, May 18 to 2013 mark Rampathon’s 20th anniversar and build 16 ramps at 15 locations throughout King and Snohomish counties.
