About the MBA

Who We Are

The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBA) was founded in 1909 by a group of Seattle builders who saw a need to unite in order to address the many concerns and issues affecting the housing industry. They shared technology and jointly solved construction problems. They actively worked with government to develop laws that protected the environment while still providing attractive, affordable communities and homes for the families of the Puget Sound region.

The homes and communities built by members of the MBA are today among the most desirable neighborhoods in which to live. Our members continue to take an active role in all facets of home construction in the Puget Sound region and are dedicated to providing a wide range of housing choices, including affordable options for the important first-time buyer market. We are the professional home builders, architects, remodelers, suppliers, manufacturers, and sales and marketing professionals in your community who believe homeownership should be in reach of every American. Each house should be well designed, constructed. Quality construction in attractive, affordable communities is important to us because we are your neighbors. We work, play and serve in our neighborhoods. Our members are dedicated to preserving the beauty and integrity of the northwest lifestyle.

Because of its active approach to the region's housing needs, the MBA has grown to become the largest local homebuilders association in the United States.

The next time you need a quality professional to help you buy, build, remodel or maintain your home, please remember:

All of our association members agree to adhere to a Code of Ethics and can have their membership revoked for deceptive or misleading business practices.

All of our contractor members are bonded, insured and registered with the State of Washington.

Our contractor members offer at least a one-year warranty on new homes and remodels.

Consumers can use our Dispute Resource Program to help resolve serious disagreements with member builders and remodelers of single family homes.

Many members have taken additional classes to enhance their skills or to complete a nationally recognized certificate program.

Many of our members take additional environmental protection measures when building or remodeling and qualify to certify their projects as Built Green®. These homes are proof that our builders and remodelers share your desire to protect our local environment.
